Spooky Words and Pumpkins

Each month during 2017 I will be stitching on the design Halloween Happiness by Sandra Cozzolino / Imaginating.  I have picked a portion of the chart that fits with the themes with the aim to get it all fully stitched by the end of 2017!

Halloween Happiness (Sandra Cozzolino)
Fabric: 28ct plain purple fabric
Threads: all DMC
Started: 1 January 2017
Finished: 1 October 2017

Yep! You are reading correctly... I have finished "Halloween Happiness"!  I had planned to finish this on Halloween night (ie put the very last stitch in / attach pumpkin button on the 31st October) but I was so close at the end of September that I just had to keep stitching....

I still need to work out if I am going to frame it or finish it as a flat fold... but I am happy to say it's done!  I really enjoyed stitching this piece and love so many different elements of it - the witch is still my favourite character though!

So now that all the spooky words and the pumpkins are done I need to try and think of something to stitch for November and December!  I think my December stitch will most likely be the start of next year's Halloween stitching... more info to come on that but as a hint think Lizzie Kate!

Til next time, happy spooky stitching!

August - Creepy Trees

Each month during 2017 I will be stitching on the design Halloween Happiness by Sandra Cozzolino / Imaginating.  I have picked a portion of the chart that fits with the themes with the aim to get it all fully stitched by the end of 2017!

I'm back!!! I managed to finish my creepy trees "H" the other day and have now started on my spooky words.  I am hoping to get this piece fully finished by the end of September - all I have left is the word Happy and the spooky words that go around the design which shouldn't take too long, hopefully!

Halloween Happiness (Sandra Cozzolino)
Fabric: 28ct plain purple fabric
Threads: all DMC

August: Creepy trees "H"
September: Spooky words started

See you again at the end of the month with a finish - if the tipsy witch plays her cards right that is!!
Til next time, happy spooky stitching!

June: Anything Green - stitched green words, frogs x 2 and orange "L" with lizard

Halloween Happiness... The Spidery E's

Each month during 2017 I will be stitching on the design Halloween Happiness by Sandra Cozzolino / Imaginating.  I have picked a portion of the chart that fits with the themes with the aim to get it all fully stitched by the end of 2017!

Sorry no excuses for being late in posting... this portion of the project was finished well before the end of the month - but time just got away from me (again!)...

Anyway... so March's theme was Spiders and Cobwebs and the 2 E's slotted quite neatly into the theme with their spiders and cobwebs decorations.

Here are the completed E's...

The whole project so far looks like this:
I love this design and can't wait to great back to it later in the month.

Til next time, happy Halloween stitching!

Halloween Happiness... The Witch

Each month during 2017 I am stitching on the design Halloween Happiness by Sandra Cozzolino / Imaginating.  I will pick a portion of the chart that fits with the themes and hopefully get it all finished by the end of 2017!

February's theme was "Witches" .... and here she is.... say hello to the tipsy witch and her familiars!

I agree with Jo she definitely looks like she has been up to something with her spells and potions! Legs all akimbo over the letter W!  Goodness me! :o)

Next month it will be the "ee's" which are all wrapped up in spider webs and spiders!  Eek... that's going to be fun!

Til then.. happy Halloween Stitching :o)

Halloween Happiness... The Moon

Halloween Happiness.... yes... I am also stitching this gorgeous design for my themes this year. The plan this year is to break this design down each month and by the end of the year I will have one big finish :o)

I started the moon as my New Year's Day start and managed to finish it by the end of the month... so far I am on track!

You will notice that I have also started the Witch... or at least her foot has appeared.  You weren't supposed to see that but I did a boo boo Betty....  I backstitched the stars, took the picture, started the witch's foot and then realised that I had backstitched the stars in black not white.... so out they came!  All fixed now!

I am stitching the design on some 28ct count light purplish coloured fabric that I bought at a craft fair a couple of years ago with the called for DMC threads - stitching from stash!

See you next month with my witch :o)

Noni's Black Cat

It's almost Halloween.... another year has rolled on by - is it just me or do the years seem to be going even more quickly than ever before??

Anyway... I am just in time for my October offering / posting....

The cute/scary black cat is part of the Halloween Portraits from Blue Ribbon Designs.  This series was published in the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2015 issue.  I have now stitched 3 of them and plan to do a couple more at some point.  Still undecided what I will do with them... but I think they will make cute little pin cushions :o)

Hope everyone has a great Halloween!

Til next time, keep on spooky stitching!

Noni's September Finish

Hi there!  Here I am back with my September finish just in time....

I couldn't find a wicked fairy to stitch this month so I extended the theme out to wicked witches and/or queens and came up with a Black Hearted Queen!

I found this design by doing an internet search which landed me on the Sub Rosa blog.  She has a number of great freebies on her blog - link to the blog is here

The fabric is from Stitches and Spice and is called Lime Ghost Gum.  Unfortunately I struggled to get a true colour of the fabric when taking a photo but believe me it is a stunning colour and looks great with the black thread.

So that's it for me... up to date again!

Til next time... happy Halloween stitching!

Noni's Spooky Words...

I'm late... but I did manage last night to put the final stitch in my spooky words piece for August

Double Double - Lizzie*Kate
Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2013

Now it's time to find a bad fairy.... looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up for Sept's theme!  So far I haven't managed to find anything that fits the brief but I will keep looking.

Til next time, happy spooky stitchings

Stitching Witch - July 2016

Witches' Accessories.... what a great theme idea! So many designs to choose from - hats, broomsticks, cauldrons to say the least!  I did however spot a design that I just had to stitch the instance I saw it in the Just Cross Stitch magazine!

The design is called "Stitching Witch" and is designed by Maria Warmke from The Stitcherhood.  How perfect is this design... hat, cauldron - tick... and then needle and scissors!!  It was published in the October 2014 issue of the Just Cross Stitch magazine.

I stitched this on a piece of fabric from Colour Cascades Fabric - no name as it was in a cardmakers pack - just love the colours!  The thread I used was "Nevermore" from Jodyri Designs.  The design called for all black thread but I decided to try something different for a change!!

Hope you like it as much as I do!  See you next month!

Noni's June Finish

Free choice time.... perfect chance for me to bring out a much neglected WIP and get it finished!

Last time you saw this WIP was a wee while ago.... way back in October 2014

October 2014
I have now at long last finished "Witch and Friends"...

This one could almost be shoe-horned into next month's update... but I couldn't wait to show her off!  So back to the drawing board for the witches accessories stitching!! :o)

Til next time... happy stitching

Noni's Spider

Incy wincy spider went up the web to the trick or treat bag......

A very quick stitch... two colours! Stitched on plain 28ct linen with DMC - nothing too fancy!  The chart was featured in the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2015 issue.

Now next month is free choice.... and I have no idea what to stitch!  Actually I have lots of ideas just can't make up my mind :o)

Til then... happy Halloween stitching

Noni's Blue Ribbon Ghost!

At the risk of sounding boring... I continued on with my Blue Ribbon Designs stitching and stitched another small (insert quick) design from the Halloween Portraits" by Blue Ribbon Designs.  This one took me the better part of Tuesday afternoon/evening last week when I was at home feeling sick and miserable!

He is a funny looking ghost... but a ghost he is!  The bottom on the ghost is confusing me as he looks like he has way too many feet... or is that supposed to be a flowing ghostly robe??

The "Halloween Portraits" designs were published in the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2015 magazine.

See you next month when spiders will be visiting.....

Noni's Blue Ribbon Pumpkin

I found the perfect quick stitch for this month... "Halloween Portraits" by Blue Ribbon Designs.

This little pumpkin is one of 6 or 7 designs included in the "Halloween Portraits" set.  Besides the cute pumpkin there is also a ghost, witch, black cat, crow, owl... plus a couple more that I can't remember... I will have plenty more to stitch over the coming months for my Halloween themes!  The designs were published in the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2015 magazine.

Once I have stitched a couple more on this piece of fabric I will turn them into little pillow ornies... but the final finish may be some time off!! :o)

Looking forward to seeing all those lovely pumpkins pop up over the next couple of weeks!

See you next month for a ghostly visit....

Noni's Jan & Feb Ornie Update!

Happy New Year..... I know, sorry, it's a very belated Happy New Year!!!

I have just been catching up on everyone's Jan and Feb posts... what wonderful designs you have all chosen to stitch.  It never ceases to amaze me how we all generally find something completely different to stitch for each month's theme :o)

So as you can guess by the title... I am here to show you my January finish - which is very late... and my February finish - which I am in time for!!  Not sure if being on time for February cancels out being late for January!!

January's theme was Winged Creatures (Crows, ravens etc) and I did have something planned until I saw the latest Snowflower Diaries SAL designs.... I just had to start January straight away and decided that it would be a "shoe-horned" choice for my January ornie!

I know, not very Halloween like - but it is cute.... and it does have a crow in it!!

February's choice is definitely Halloween... and a monster.  Meet "Pumpkin Man" by The Prairie Schooler.
This cute monster was published in the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2015 magazine and only took me a couple of days to stitch! Bonus :o)

So that's me all up to date again...

See you next month

November & December Done and Dusted!!

This is a real shoe-horn post.... I have finished off November's creepy tree finally... and added December's free choice and combined them to be a big hurdle finish on this design - "Dancing in the Moonlight" by Praiseworthy Stitches.

So here we are.... the creepy tree finished.... along with the raven, cat and resident ghosts!

"Dancing in the Moonlight" - Praiseworthy Stitches
I still need to add beads and a bit of back stitch but that will be done at the end when everything else is stitched.

Did you notice my lovely new needle minder?  Just perfect for Halloween stitching - a spider in his silvery blingy web!

So that's me done for 2015.... now I just need to start planning for my 2016 stitching!

Before I go though, I just want to say thank you to Jo for hosting such an awesome blog for all of us that love to stitch Halloween...  It has been great fun seeing all the great stitching over the year as well!

Til we meet again in 2016, have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!  See you all again soon!

Ghostly Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone!!

I actually finished my Ghost stitching earlier this month but I decided to wait until Halloween to post.... seems so much more like Halloween to post on the day!!

My "Ghost" is actually another square on The Trilogy's Halloween Sneak Peek that I have been been stitching for quite some time now...

Here he is all in his ghostly glory:

The whole piece looks like this at the moment:

I have one more square to stitch once I have finished the pumpkin and then it will just be the black border left to do!

Before I go I have one more pic to show you.... Jo asked us to show pics of any Halloween decorating that we do.  I generally don't decorate for Halloween but this year I did do something....

I decorated my Meerkats (this is an on-going Meerkat competition that I have going with a friend at work - we have started to decorate our Meerkats for various events and sharing the pics)

However you celebrate Halloween, have a great time.... and don't forget Jo's Halloween Blog Hop... my post is up showing my letter of the mystery phrase.

Noni's September Spooky Words

Eek!! Spooky Words.... wow what a great theme for September.

I had this one planned right from the start of the year!  Even though I knew exactly what I was going to stitch for September I did also have a look at some other "spooky" word designs just in case... after all we can never have too many spooky charts in our stash!!

So what did I stitch for September's theme?  Well, it just had to be Lizzie Kate's "Eek!"

"Eek!" - Lizzie Kate
This chart/kit is a Limited Edition Kit and was given to me a couple of years ago.  It included the fabric, beads and buttons but not the threads, so I stitched it with DMC threads which is why it does look slightly different to the model piece in the chart pack photo.

See you next month!

Happy Spooky Stitching

Noni's August Black Cat

Oops... a day late posting for August!  But, surprise surprise... I do have a black cat to show you!!

While I had always planned to stitch the Black Cat from the Sneak Peek Halloween design for this month, it didn't stop me looking at all of the other beautiful black cat designs that are out there in the big wide stitching world....

So without further ado... here he is:  Black Cat (Sneak Peek Halloween - designed by The Trilogy).

"Black Cat"
Sneak Peek - Halloween
Designer: The Trilogy
Another square finished on this cute design... next up will be the "ghost" square for October.... just in time for Halloween!

Happy spooky stitching..... see you all soon....

Noni's July Haunted House

Yeah!  I did it... I managed to finish my July "Haunted House" in July!!

My Haunted House is from The Trilogy's Halloween Sneak Peek.

Now I should let you into a secret.... I did start the Halloween Sneak Peek design earlier in the year with the plan that some of the little "sneak peek" designs would fit in perfectly to the monthly stitching themes and then I wouldn't have to think/plan too far ahead!

Sneak Peek Halloween - The Trilogy
With a little bit of luck I will get the Sneak Peek Black Cat finished in time for an August posting.... and my September theme is almost done as well.... oh, does that mean I might be getting organised! Don't believe it!! :o)

Til til next time.... happy Halloween stitching
