Noni's Black Cat

It's almost Halloween.... another year has rolled on by - is it just me or do the years seem to be going even more quickly than ever before??

Anyway... I am just in time for my October offering / posting....

The cute/scary black cat is part of the Halloween Portraits from Blue Ribbon Designs.  This series was published in the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2015 issue.  I have now stitched 3 of them and plan to do a couple more at some point.  Still undecided what I will do with them... but I think they will make cute little pin cushions :o)

Hope everyone has a great Halloween!

Til next time, keep on spooky stitching!
Hugs xx

Loretta's March, April and May Ornies

I got kind of sidetracked but made up for it this week.  The following are my ornies for March, April & May.

All three are from the 2015 JCS Special Collector's Issue Halloween.  The Pumpkin and Ghost are by Belinda Karls-Nace of Blue Ribbon Designs and the Trick or Treat is by Nancy Greenberg of Pickle Barrel Designs.

Thanks for looking!

Noni's Blue Ribbon Ghost!

At the risk of sounding boring... I continued on with my Blue Ribbon Designs stitching and stitched another small (insert quick) design from the Halloween Portraits" by Blue Ribbon Designs.  This one took me the better part of Tuesday afternoon/evening last week when I was at home feeling sick and miserable!

He is a funny looking ghost... but a ghost he is!  The bottom on the ghost is confusing me as he looks like he has way too many feet... or is that supposed to be a flowing ghostly robe??

The "Halloween Portraits" designs were published in the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2015 magazine.

See you next month when spiders will be visiting.....

Noni's Blue Ribbon Pumpkin

I found the perfect quick stitch for this month... "Halloween Portraits" by Blue Ribbon Designs.

This little pumpkin is one of 6 or 7 designs included in the "Halloween Portraits" set.  Besides the cute pumpkin there is also a ghost, witch, black cat, crow, owl... plus a couple more that I can't remember... I will have plenty more to stitch over the coming months for my Halloween themes!  The designs were published in the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2015 magazine.

Once I have stitched a couple more on this piece of fabric I will turn them into little pillow ornies... but the final finish may be some time off!! :o)

Looking forward to seeing all those lovely pumpkins pop up over the next couple of weeks!

See you next month for a ghostly visit....

Jo's December Ornament

Remember the Blue Ribbon Design's Creepy Tree from November?  Well, I liked it so much I stitched all eight blocks and added another BRD to make a Box of Treats:

Here are the side views:

You can read all about it on my blog post here - Serendipitous Stitching

November-Creepy Tree

I didn't finish the ornament I intended to have for this month but, I quickly stitched this tree. After seeing Jo's entry I remembered and added another ornament to my Behind the Gate project.

Jo's November Ornament

It's a little one but I have big plans for it!  This Creepy Tree is by Blue Ribbon Designs from the latest Just Cross Stitch Hallowe'en magazine.

There is a series of 8 small designs, each one only 27x27 stitches.  I'm planning to stitch all of them on this piece of random 32 count blue linen and make them into something.  Watch this space!

Some of the other designs:

Thanks for all your suggestions for themes for next year.  I'll be going through the emails and comments and making the final list soon.

Theresa's April to August Ornies

Hello everyone - I've been absent for a while stitching gifts and larger pieces.  Now I'm back to Halloween ornies.  One of my bigger-than-ornie-size pieces is Last Stitch Cemetery by Hinzeit.  Perhaps this one can pass for my April ornie?!
Stitched on 32ct Legacy lugana by Picture This Plus.  Yet to be framed.  My May pumpkin ornie is Along Came a Spider by Amy Brueckin from the Sept/Oct 2011 JCS.  Stitched on 30ct WDW peoria purple linen (it's really a very bright purple, but looks gray in this pic) with DMC.  I decided to do something out of the ordinary for the shape.  I like how it turned out!
My choice for June is a Lizzie*Kate freebie, All Hallows Eve stitched on 32 ct. olive linen and finished with a pom-pom trim.
My July haunted house is a popular choice as I've seen it a few times.  Called Boo Mansion from Blue Ribbon Designs in the Sept/Oct 2011 JCS Halloween issue.  Finished into a pillow with hand-made cording.
And, finally, my black cat for August is a section of a larger piece called All Boxed Up by Michelle Lutzen in the Sept 2014 issue of Cross Stitch & Needlework Mag.  Stitched with DMC on a 28ct purple linen scrap and finished with fabric, cording, and buttons.
Whew!  I think I'm all caught up.  Yeah!  Hope you enjoy.  Theresa

Jo's June Ornament

Free choice.  I always put a couple of free choice options in the themes so people can stitch their favourite thing without having to fit it in to a specific category.  But does anyone else find this one really difficult to make the decision?

I was just overwhelmed with choices!  So to narrow it down, I selected one magazine and said "choose a design from that".  The magazine was the Just Cross Stitch Hallowe'en preview issue from 2011.  The designer is Blue Ribbon Designs and the design is Boo Mansion:

Stitched on 32 count Twilight Blue linen

and scrapbooked with its companion piece Owls by Midnight:

Of course, as soon as I started stitching this one I realised that July's theme is Haunted Houses.  So now I have to find a different Haunted House for that one!

October Treats

I just stopped by to see all of the October entries and realised my post didn't show up. I managed to get three ornaments stitched. They are mainly Treats not Tricks.

The Count

Hi Everyone, Thanks Jo for the invite. I saw Cathi's January post and thought this would be a good forum to help me work on one of my UFOs., Behind the Gate. With some good stitching mojo and inspiration from the group hopefully I will have at least 9 stitched by 31 Oct..

This month I worked on The Count.:
Behind the Gate, Blue Ribbon Designs
40ct Sugared Ginger
(This is not a good representation of the fabric it is a much sweeter orange.)

TheresaM I hope you don't mind if I CASE your finish, the blood drop is a very clever idea.

Cathi - finish of my February ornament

This time, I am quite quick with my February ornie, so here it is:

It is a calendar day of a chart by Blue Ribbon Designs: the vampire from "Behind The Gate" (calendar piece 28). For the back side, I just stitched "Boo" on it... :o)

Happy Stitching
