Cheryl's October Bat

October Bat by Durene Jones
This month I stitched this cute bat by Durene Jones.  This is one of Durene's many freebie charts that she has posted on her facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/DureneJonesCrossStitch/

I had several scraps of Aida fabric in various counts, and some leftover tie-dye, so I dyed several  pieces.  This Aida is 11 count (which I don't stitch on too often), but it turned out pretty good!

Happy October!

Cheryl's January Winged Creatures

Instead of stitching an ornament this month, I stitched some bats on my "Halloween Pumpkin" from the 2012 Just CrossStitch Halloween Issue.

I stitched all of the right-hand side border bats, only to discover that the last time I worked on it I had made a tiny mistake and was off by 2 threads.  If I had noticed, I would have only had to frog about 5 stitches and a little back stitching.  Instead, I had to frog out the entire row of bats ... yuk!   Well, I frogged them all out and restitched them.

I hope your Halloween stitching isn't driving you batty!

Craftingpaws's January and February Ornaments...

Hello everyone!
I finally remembered to send Jo an email, so I could be added to this blog and share my monthly ornaments.
I have been stitching along each month and thought I would post what ornaments I completed for January and February.

January 2016
Theme: Winged Creatures
The piece was one of the Spooktacular Designs, found in The World of Cross Stitching magazine (October 2015 issue).
Designer: Durene Jones
stitched on 14 ct. white Aida fabric
Stitch Time: 7 hrs. 45 minutes

February 2016
Theme: Mummies and Monsters
(I actually finish/finished him, with a mason jar lid as the frame.)
The pattern is from The World of Cross Stitching magazine (October 2015 issue) and the designer is Durene Jones.
stitched on 14 ct. white Aida fabric

I am very excited to finish my pumpkin themed project for March and really looking forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with.

Making lemonade out of lemons

It was a gorgeous weekend but the ragweed pollen was so high that I was stuck indoors.  I took advantage of my misfortune by stitching these 2 PS's Halloween pieces.  The batty one is from the Bump in the Night leaflet and the other is from Trick or Treat.

They don't fit our sal themes but I'd been wanting to stitch these:

Cheryl's July Haunted House Ornament

WooooooOOOOOOoooooo!

I think my house might have been spookier had I used grey or purple instead of gold.
(I was going for an autumn leaf palette.)

Anyhoo ... I found this free pattern here:
