January and February Ornies......

Hmmm!  A bit behind (when am I ever not behind?) so far this year but I am now caught up, I think.

January Ornament: Winged Creatures

Dancing Witches by Needlebling Designs
Stitched on over-dyed purple linen with my own choice of floss colours.

This is what the final piece will look like one day....

(I am saving the dancing witches on the bottom for September and the tree will fit in with June's theme).

February Ornament:  Candy Corn and Food

Witch's Kitchen a freebie by The Primitive Hare
Unknown cream linen
I changed the colours quite a bit, you can see, if you look at Isabella's original piece...

I hope that you like my changes.

I am busily stitching my black cat - so maybe she will be finished by March 31st- one can only dream!

OOOPS! I just sort of kept stitching and stitching and stitching....

A magical tale

It all started with Witchy Poo here, due to the evil curse she put upon me (lol!) I did not get her finished in time for February.  And then, of course, that meant that I was running late for March as well.  But, lucky for me, a True Love's kiss (from TraderVic, of course) broke the curse and then I stitched like one possessed (so maybe the curse was not broken after all? Oh no!) and somehow I found myself at the end of May, with my Black cat all stitched!  So, a happy ending as now I am months ahead!

February: Witchy Poo

March: Creepy Crawly Spiders

April: Winged Creatures

May: The Witchy Poo's Familiar, the Black Cat (Nobu, maybe? But does that then make me Witchy Poo??????)

And here is the whole piece so far.

So, feeling pretty happy with myself at the moment.

My Copy Cat January Finish...

Well, as you all probably know, I love practically everything that dear Jo stitches, so I have jumped onto the Halloween Happiness bandwagon and I am stitching the Imaginating design, too, for this SAL.  So, without further ado, here is my Moon for this month's theme....

Fabric: 28 ct orange Lugana
Floss: My own choice of specialty threads

OOOOPS!

Just realised that I never posted my October finish for the Black Cat theme - silly, silly me!

Here goes, another PS design, of course (because it was stitched whilst travelling).

Black Cat from PS Book #140 Pumpkin Patch
28 ct Orange Lugana
Floss: DMC 3371 and 720 plus WDW Fiesta for the moon

So, yes, NOW I am DONE for the year, Bring on 2017!

hugs, Kaye

That's me done for the year ....

Yay!  I have finished the Hallowe'en Ornie SAL for 2016 early!

I present to you.....

'Trick or Treat What's to Eat?' from Prairie Schooler Book #188 Trick or Treat.

This was an absolute dream to stitch, I started it on Friday and finished it just before midnight on Saturday night.  So, a very quick stitch for me.

I am so looking forward to next year's themes, I can't wait to get started!

A dislocated shoulder.....

Dont' worry, not mine but my poor Prairie Schooler Skeleton!

See his right shoulder (on the left)?  Well, it should be sitting at the same level as the other shoulder but I didn't notice the discrepancy until after I had stitched all of his arm and the two keys.  At first I thought to myself, 'oh no! All that frogging!' But then the more I looked at it, the more I quite liked my unintentional change to the design and I have decided that the poor skeleton has a dislocated shoulder - poor lamb!

"Boo Moon"
Prairie Schooler Book #189
Fabric: Mystery orange (yes, it is actually orange, much brighter than the pic shows) lugana
Floss: DMC 3371 and 720

.... and now for a very belated Hallowe'en Ornie Finish....

I present to you Witchy Remedy by Silver Creek Samplers from JCS Halloween Ornie Mag 2011.

This was my piece for the April 2013 theme on the earlier incarnation of this Hallowe'en Ornie SAL blog - finally finished!  Only Three and a half years late! lol!

Look carefully, at the last pic, can you see the mistake I made, again?  Another one that I intend to keep, as it sort of fits in with the theme of the piece.

Floss: Suggested DMC

So, that is all for me for now,

Back on Track?

After failing to produce neither a July nor August Hallowe'en Ornie, I am back on track with my September ornie - my version of Bad Fairies.

Sorry, I am not at home at the moment so I cannot remember the name of the French book which I used as the basis of the design, but I will update this post when I am back home.

I found this theme to be a stretch but I must admit I am really thrilled with how well this turned out.  So, in the end I relished the challenge, thanks Jo.

P.S. I am such a doofus, I was sure that I had posted this already but when I checked - no go!

My late June Ornie.....

Well, I have to say, getting my ornie stitched for June this time around proved a little problematic, to say the least.

For some unknown reason, my planned stitching project, another band of 'Counting Bats' by Just Nan (our dear Jo kindly let me piggyback on her stitching idea) somehow disappeared into the black hole that is my Girl's Nest! I searched high and low for days and days but to no avail, although, Jo, you will be happy to know that I finally found it late last night.  Phew!

So,  change of plans and here we finally have my June ornament!

"Crow on a Pumpkin"
Samplers Not Forgotten
JCS Halloween 2015 magazine
Using a mixture of my own choice of GAST, CC and WDW floss

I love the fact that the pumpkin is not orange!  And I am thrilled with my use of CC Queen Bee for the border on the right instead of GAST Gold Leaf - it looks quite unusual.

Happy, Happy Happy!

Off on a little holiday to the back of beyond in Queensland next Saturday, so getting all my stitching planned as there is going to be a lot of downtime on flights and long car trips.

I have two little pieces I want to stitch for this month's themes of Witches' Accessories, both should not take too long, so hopefully, when I get back I will have my July update ready to show you.

Sunday, 1 May 2016

Determined ...

... not to be scraping in by the skin of my teeth for my May ornament, I stitched like a crazy witch all day yesterday (1st May) to get the next band finished in Counting Bats by Just Nan for the theme of "Spiders".

(the fabbie is so much prettier than I can get my camera to show - it is a pretty lilac and blue)

Phew!  Feeling so good about my monthly goals right about now.

Saturday, 30 April 2016

By the skin of my teeth... ...

... I have finished my April Hallowe'en Ornament...

I really struggled to find a design which called to me for the April theme of ghosts but then I was rescued by the mailman, who brought me my order of some Just Nan patterns, including the wonderful Counting Bats.  The gorgeous Jo is stitching this for the SAL and so I am going to jump on her bandwagon and start with the ghost band and move around from there.  Thanks, dear Jo, for the inspiration.

So, at 11.09 pm on Saturday, 30th I finished my first band - Band 3.

32ct Evening Sky Belfast Linen
Mixture of called-for DMC threads and over-dyed floss from my stash
(it is actually a bit more lilac than this picture shows and the reason the top border is incomplete is that it is really part of Band 2 - which I will go back and stitch when I get the chance).

hugs, Kaye

Kaye's February Monster....

... I was really struggling this month to choose a design but then I saw the very "sweet" Pumpkin Man stitched by my dear friend, Noni, for this SAL and I was hooked.

So, may I introduce you to a second Pumpkin Man?

I am quite taken with him, thanks again, Noni, for the inspiration.

Now to hunt up my March design - oh, more pumpkins - lol!

P.S. Of course, as this is a PS design - it counts as a finish for the Prairie Schooler SAL as well - yay!

Kaye's January Winged Creatures .....

A spooky hello to you all, here is my January Winged Creature, and it is a Finished Finish - double yay! My first finish for the year.

I made it up into a simple soft ornie.

I was lucky enough to find the perfect backing fabbie in my stash.

A close up of the stitching.

Design: Part of "All Hallow's Eve" by Prairie Schooler (Book *180)
28 ct linen "Rain"
Floss: DMC 310

A very quick, enjoyable stitch.
