Noni's Jan & Feb Ornie Update!

Happy New Year..... I know, sorry, it's a very belated Happy New Year!!!

I have just been catching up on everyone's Jan and Feb posts... what wonderful designs you have all chosen to stitch.  It never ceases to amaze me how we all generally find something completely different to stitch for each month's theme :o)

So as you can guess by the title... I am here to show you my January finish - which is very late... and my February finish - which I am in time for!!  Not sure if being on time for February cancels out being late for January!!

January's theme was Winged Creatures (Crows, ravens etc) and I did have something planned until I saw the latest Snowflower Diaries SAL designs.... I just had to start January straight away and decided that it would be a "shoe-horned" choice for my January ornie!

I know, not very Halloween like - but it is cute.... and it does have a crow in it!!

February's choice is definitely Halloween... and a monster.  Meet "Pumpkin Man" by The Prairie Schooler.
This cute monster was published in the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2015 magazine and only took me a couple of days to stitch! Bonus :o)

So that's me all up to date again...

See you next month

Noni's January Witch

Hello!  Long time no see around here.... sorry I have been much very missing in action with my Halloween stitching lately - but hopefully you will all be very happy to know that things are getting back on track again (thanks in no part to the Crazy January challenges I participated in last month)!

For my January witch I decided to stitch another Snowflower Diaries witch - this time it was "Winter Witch".  Remember I stitched the "Spring Witch" last year which gave us a coven of Spring Witch? So after stitching Spring, I could hardly ignore Winter, could I?

So here she is:
Winter Witch - designer: Snowflower Diaries
stitched on "Hocus Pocus" 32ct Belfast from Stitches & Spice
The fabric I stitched her on is actually a dark midnight blue colour but in the photo it does appear to have a purple tinge.... I love how the red shows up on this fabric...

Now it's onto February's skeleton - let's hope I can get that posted before the end of February!

Til then, Happy Spooky Stitching!

A ghost....

I have finished "Haunted House" as my May piece.

I just squeezed it in under the "Monsters" theme as it has a ghost in it.

It is another freebie from Maja of The Snowflower Diaries.

I am rather please with her.

hugs, Kaye

Debbie's witch has joined the coven!

I stitched this adorable Winter Witch by Maja of The Snowflower Diaries so she can join the coven, too!  I think I'll stitch Spring Witch on the same bright green hand-dyed fabric next!

I am now a coven member, too...

Hi everyone,

Well, I think that this may be my first Halloween Ornie Sal finish for the year!  Oh no!  I feel so bad but taking a month off to travel through South-east Asia and Italy sort of mucks up your daily routine! lol!

Anyway, I heard a little rumour that instead of stitching an owl design this month we had special dispensation from Jo to stitch Spring Wittch, a freebie by Maja from The Snowflower Diaries as she has kindly offered to design us a special witch if we do - so here is my cute as a button Spring Witch.

... and you will be please to know that I have started my May piece already - it is Maja's Haunted House which has a ghost in it - so I think that counts as a monster.

Here is what it will look when finished:

Now, I am off to check what everyone else has stitched.

Ciao everybody!

ciao everybody!

I'm happy to join the Coven with my recent finish, the Spring/Easter Witch!

I decided to dress the sweet lass with Easter colours; soft yellows, lilac and pink - all Nina's Threads on 40ct. "Cloudy Sky" linen. sorry the linen photographed so badly, it's been raining all weekend so I rarely had good daylight exposure.
I'll post about her in my blog with a detailed list of what I used, and a better snap, hopefully tomorrow.
thank you, Maja, for the adorable chart - I really enjoyed sitching my very first Snowflower Diaries! ❤ :)

We have a Spring Witch Coven!

Jo mentioned in one of her recent posts that three (3) to thirteen (13) witches make a coven... and then when I was deciding what to stitch Jo also commented on my post that three witches can make a coven, and we almost had a coven as two of Maja's Spring Witches had already been stitched...

So I stitched the Spring Witch, and we now have a coven of the Snowflower Diaries Spring Witches for March!
Spring Witch (The Snowflower Diaries)
Started 23 March 2014, Finished 4 April 2014
For more info on my Spring Witch, pop over to my blog....

So now onto the April stitch which is "Owls".  I have already picked my owl design out and started stitching. I am stitching another design from the Just Cross Stitch Halloween 2013 special edition magazine.  Will post an update soon.....

Spring Witch

I chose to stitch the spring witch from The Snowflower Diaries.
It is stitched on 18 CT. White Aida.
I completely changed up the DMC floss.
I will take a better picture to replace this one!

Jo's March Ornament

As well as having my own blog and running this one, I also do the admin for The Scarlet Letter Years Blogs.  This is a challenge set up to celebrate my friend Nicola's 50th Birthday in 2013.  This week we had our first meet-up in London.  You can read all about it here.  It was a very long day for me, I left home at 7am and returned back just before 10pm.  The upside to spending six hours on a train though is the amount of stitching done!  I nearly completed the entire March design!  I chose the Spring Witch by The Snowflower Diaries and finished her off yesterday:

I stitched her on a piece of random 28 count linen I had using the recommended DMC.  The only change I made was to give the witch green eyes and I used satin stitch for the broom.  I just love the effect I got using that stitch.  There are three more seasonal witches and I will definitely stitch them all this year.  Here is the full picture mounted:

This is not a scrapbook page, it's a page from a National Geographic calendar.  Your local Waterstones may still have these for only £2.49 (they might be in the stockroom so you'll have to ask!).  There are twelve different designs all of various landscapes and perfect for mounting stitching.  I just cut a circle in the paper and mounted the fabric behind it with double-sided tape.
