May - Pumpkins

I love black bird!

★

Kaye's May stitch....

.... well, I didn't think I was going to get an ornie done by the end of the month, which is tomorrow.  But I made a concerted effort last night to get my Pumpkin ornie finished and here is the result:

"King of Halloween"
Freebie from
28 count Waterfall Blue Lugana
(the photos do not do the colour justice - it is more a mint green)
Pumpkin: WDW Fiesta (my favourite colour for Halloween pumpkins)
Rest of design: various DMC threads

Anyway, that is this month for me - off to choose my June design.

April's March, April & May Halloween Stitches

So I am a little behind, but I finally have March, April and May stitches to share.
March's stitch is a piece from The Prairie Schooler.  It is from a leaflet from last year.  Unfortunately I don't remember the name of it.

April's stitch is also from The Prairie Schooler.  Again I don't have the leaflet in front of me, so I don't know the name of it.
Finally my May stitch is a free chart from Primitive Betty's.  Sorry the photo is sideways.  I love the pumpkin tree and I couldn't pass it up for this month's stitch,

Carla's April Ornie

"Happy Stitches 4 You" designed this cute little thing.  There is a second one that I'd like to stitch up to use as a backside to this one.

So simple but super cute!

Cheryl's May Ornament

Boo!
by The Prairie Schooler
I'm not sure if I will finish stuffed or flat, so I haven't stitched the border yet.  Stitched on an unknown type of loosely woven 18 ct. beige colored fabric.

It's a Jack-O-Balloon

I finished up part 2 of Fright Flight by stitching the pumpkin balloon.  TeeHee .... I guess her broom is out of order. It's the humor in patterns like this that make me enjoy Halloween stitching so much ...  makes me grin every time I look at it.

Pumpkins Galore!

This was a very Serendipitous finish for the month, Just Nan's Haunted Pumpkins Tree.  I received the chart from Mouse and the fabric from Shebafudge for my Birthday last year and started the design in October 2014.  I picked it up again for one day in the DUCJC this January and then worked it on fairly solidly though May, finishing it at the weekend.

Stitched on 28 count Chocolate Orange evenweave from Crafty Kitten.

Jo's May Ornament

Will you look at this, only the 1st of May and I have a finish already!  This is such a quick stitch, I ran it up this afternoon in just a couple of hours.

This is Just Nan's Poor Jack, one of her complimentary designs.  I think I downloaded it from the JCS website but I'm not 100% sure!  I stitched it on 32 count Lavender evenweave to match the other Just Nan spooky smalls.

(I have no idea why the spiders are wearing little orange top hats!)

And here's a bonus finish for last month's Tombstones.  This one is by Stitchers Anon and is based on Charles Dicken's book A Christmas Carol.  She also does the three Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

Stitched over 1 on 28 count Platinum Cashel linen.

April Altered Altoid

I used my tombstone finish as an Altoid Tin-Topper.

The center stone is from Drac-in-the-Box
JCS Halloween 2013
I made up the other two tombstones.

Jo's April Ornament

I did rather struggle to find a tombstone I liked this month!  I'm not a fan of stitching them on their own but couldn't find a suitable larger pattern with one in.  I'd already stitched La Comtesse one that Kaye did!

So here is my work-around, the letter N from the Primitive Hare's Hallowe'en Cubes:

And here the four I have stitched so far:

They are all stitched on the same 32 count Vintage Grain linen, just photographed in different lights.

And here is La Comtesse's Haunted Castle:

Drawing a bit of a long bow ...

... on choosing my tombstone design for this month!

You see, I searched high and low for a tombstone design that I liked (unfortunately I didn't seem to see any of the lovely ones which have popped up on the blog this month).

But, in my searching, I found this wonderful free design by La Comtesse de la pointe de croix. She has an absolutely gorgeous blog and has a lot of wonderful free designs (nearly 150), so well worth a visit.

Now, if you look very closely on the left hand side, you can see some little crosses - they are my "tombstones".  Tiny, but they are there.

I finished it as a plain cushion with some leftover quilt fabric on the back.

Happy Halloween
La Comtesse de la pointe de la croix
32 ct Belfast Linen
Hand dyed "Evening Sky"
GAST Royal Purple

I love this design and it was such a joy to stitch - I love the castle, especially.

Many tombstones

My tombstones come from Prairie Schooler's Nevermore.

April - Tombstones

This is my choice for April's theme of "tombstones".  I didn't have the recommended fabric or threads, so I substituted everything.  I think it turned out OK :)

"Not Forgotted" by Plum Street Samplers - stitched on a pale grey 36ct hand-dyed linen, with a mix of Belle Soie, Caron Collection Waterlilies and Silk 'n' Colors silk threads.

Introduction to Jodi

Thanks so much for allowing me to join your group!  I have been looking around at all of the finishes.  Great work!  Here is one of my recent completed pieces.  Now I need to add some smalls and this group should help with that!
