October - Pumpkins

One Color Pumpkin, Bent Creek.

I live in Brazil and we don't celebrate Halloween like in Canada or USA for example. But in schools of English has some party with students at school (inside school, never in the street). I LOVE to stitch Halloween patterns because I love Halloween! I had English class when I was younger and now I am studing again.

I don't have a costume to dressing up Halloween but I have a Halloween tree with many finisheds ornaments.

Spooky Words and Pumpkins

Each month during 2017 I will be stitching on the design Halloween Happiness by Sandra Cozzolino / Imaginating.  I have picked a portion of the chart that fits with the themes with the aim to get it all fully stitched by the end of 2017!

Halloween Happiness (Sandra Cozzolino)
Fabric: 28ct plain purple fabric
Threads: all DMC
Started: 1 January 2017
Finished: 1 October 2017

Yep! You are reading correctly... I have finished "Halloween Happiness"!  I had planned to finish this on Halloween night (ie put the very last stitch in / attach pumpkin button on the 31st October) but I was so close at the end of September that I just had to keep stitching....

I still need to work out if I am going to frame it or finish it as a flat fold... but I am happy to say it's done!  I really enjoyed stitching this piece and love so many different elements of it - the witch is still my favourite character though!

So now that all the spooky words and the pumpkins are done I need to try and think of something to stitch for November and December!  I think my December stitch will most likely be the start of next year's Halloween stitching... more info to come on that but as a hint think Lizzie Kate!

Til next time, happy spooky stitching!

Jo's October Finish - Pumpkins

I have chosen a number of different spooky designs to stitch for Dark October this month, several have pumpkins so watch out for more posts from me!

But the first one is Jardin Prive's Happy Hallowe'en Night which features a trio of spooky pumpkin faces:

Stitched on 32 count Cognac Linen which is one of my favourite orange fabrics, there is just a hint of brown tones rather than bright orange.   Good job I bought a large piece to cut down as I have used it a lot!

Here is the full size of the fabric:

I'm also taking sign-ups for the annual Hallowe'en Trick or Treat Blog Hop.  Each participant will be given a letter of the alphabet which they display on their blog on 31st October.  I will list all the participants on my blog and we hop around collecting all the letters to make a mystery phrase.  One lucky person wins a prize!   Provide your own candy and treats LOL

If you would like to be a participant, just leave a comment here or on my blog.

September - Spooky words

Well, things didn't go as planned last month.  The project I was working on was left in Colorado where I was visiting my sister.  Along with two other pieces in my project bag.  **sniff**

So I started this cute little project from The Primitive Hare.

August - Creepy Trees

Each month during 2017 I will be stitching on the design Halloween Happiness by Sandra Cozzolino / Imaginating.  I have picked a portion of the chart that fits with the themes with the aim to get it all fully stitched by the end of 2017!

I'm back!!! I managed to finish my creepy trees "H" the other day and have now started on my spooky words.  I am hoping to get this piece fully finished by the end of September - all I have left is the word Happy and the spooky words that go around the design which shouldn't take too long, hopefully!

Halloween Happiness (Sandra Cozzolino)
Fabric: 28ct plain purple fabric
Threads: all DMC

August: Creepy trees "H"
September: Spooky words started

See you again at the end of the month with a finish - if the tipsy witch plays her cards right that is!!

August: Creepy Tree

My creepy tree is from the JCS Halloween Collection. As stitched it looks like just an Autumn scene. The magazine model has two bat buttons in the upper corners. I will have to look around for something to adorn my ornament.

May, June & July catch up!

Each month during 2017 I will be stitching on the design Halloween Happiness by Sandra Cozzolino / Imaginating.  I have picked a portion of the chart that fits with the themes with the aim to get it all fully stitched by the end of 2017!

Oh my goodness... I haven't posted here since April - are you serious!! I can not believe it! (Channelling my inner McEnroe!)

So without further ado, here is where my gorgeous Halloween Happiness is at now:

Halloween Happiness (Sandra Cozzolino)
Fabric: 28ct plain purple fabric
Threads: all DMC

May: Black cats - stitched the "N" tree and cat
June: Anything Green - stitched green words, frogs x 2 and orange "L" with lizard
July: Ghost -  ghostly "A" and started (almost finished) small tree "L"

Hopefully I will be back on track with posting at the end of August!  But for now, happy spooky stitching!

All caught up! Jul/Aug for Anne S

Wow, I really got 'in the zone' this weekend with my stitching - I think I even surprised myself yesterday!!  Here are my choices for July and August.

July - Ghosts

"Happy Halloween" by Simple Stitches (freebie)
Stitched on 32ct summer khaki (or dirty?) Belfast linen
with my own choice of DMC threads (similar to the charted GAST)

August - Creepy Trees

I once again went back to Prairie Schooler's When Witches Go Riding to stitch the main tree - this is where I can see the colours are very different between the witch and the tree, so I guess I'll have to re-stitch the witch etc before I'm 100% happy with it.
